Step 1. Install Node.js

Claude Code runs on Node.js. Download and install it from nodejs.org.

Step 2. Install Claude Code

Open your terminal (inside Cursor, VS Code, or the native Mac Terminal) and run:

npm install -g @anthropic-ai/claude-code

Step 3. Launch it

claude

First launch will ask you to authenticate with your Anthropic account (Pro, Max, Teams, or Enterprise plan required). That's it. Claude Code is now running in your terminal.
